Setting Up Shoppable Reviews

Instead of reading a review and then navigating to the product page, customers can add the reviewed product directly to their cart from within the review widget. This reduces friction, especially on homepage and collection page review sections where reviews reference multiple products.

Enabling Shoppable Reviews

Navigate to Sections → [Your Section] → Settings → Shoppable and toggle the feature on. When enabled, each review card in your section will show the associated product with a thumbnail image, product name, price, and an "Add to Cart" button. This works on any section type — carousels, sliders, grids, and UGC galleries. Shoppable reviews are most effective on homepage sections and collection page sections where reviews span multiple products. On product pages, the shoppable widget is less necessary since the visitor is already on the product page, but it can still help with cross-sell if you display reviews from related products.

Configuring Add-to-Cart Behavior

When a customer clicks the add-to-cart button within a review, you can configure what happens next. Drawer cart — the product is added and your theme's cart drawer opens, keeping the customer on the page. Cart page redirect — the customer is taken to the cart page. Stay in place — the product is added silently with a confirmation animation, and the customer continues browsing reviews. The drawer cart option is usually the best choice because it confirms the action without disrupting the browsing experience. If your theme does not have a drawer cart, the stay-in-place option with a clear confirmation message works well as an alternative.

Product Widget Styling

The product widget within shoppable reviews can be styled to match your store's design. Configure: Image size — thumbnail dimensions for the product photo. Price display — show original price, compare-at price, or both (for sale items). Button style — primary (filled), secondary (outlined), or minimal (text link). Button text — "Add to Cart," "Shop Now," "Quick Add," or custom text. Variant selector — for products with variants, show a dropdown or default to the first available variant. Keep the widget compact so it enhances the review card without overshadowing the review content itself.

Cross-Sell with Shoppable Reviews

One powerful use of shoppable reviews is cross-selling. On a product page, show a review section that includes reviews from complementary products. For example, on a moisturizer product page, display a section with reviews that mention your cleanser or serum. The shoppable widget lets customers add those complementary products without leaving the page. To set this up, create a section that pulls reviews from a specific collection (for example, "Skincare Essentials") rather than just the current product. The genetic algorithm will optimize the mix of same-product and cross-product reviews based on RPV data.

Measuring Shoppable Review Performance

Track shoppable review metrics in Dashboard → Sections. Key metrics include: widget impression rate, add-to-cart click rate, and direct revenue attributed to shoppable widget clicks. Compare the RPV of sessions that interact with shoppable widgets versus those that interact with non-shoppable reviews. The genetic algorithm factors shoppable interactions into its optimization, so it may determine that shoppable reviews outperform non-shoppable versions for your store — or vice versa. Let the data decide rather than assuming shoppable is always better.
