Review Slider Configuration

Sliders and carousels serve different purposes. Use a slider when you want to feature individual reviews prominently — typically above the fold or as a testimonial section. Use a carousel when you want visitors to browse through multiple reviews. Sliders work well on homepages, landing pages, and at the top of product pages where you want a strong first impression. Carousels work better further down the page where visitors are actively researching. Many high-performing stores use both: a slider above the fold with 3-5 top reviews, and a carousel further down with the full review collection. The genetic algorithm optimizes each independently.

The transition between reviews is a key differentiator for sliders. Eevy AI supports: Fade — smooth cross-fade between reviews, elegant and minimal; Slide — horizontal slide transition, familiar and intuitive; Flip — 3D card flip effect, attention-grabbing but can feel heavy; None — instant swap with no animation. Each transition has a configurable duration (200-1000ms). Faster transitions feel snappier but give less time to process the content change. The genetic algorithm tests transition styles and speeds because they measurably affect engagement — some audiences prefer smooth fades while others respond better to quick slides.

Sliders typically auto-advance through reviews at a set interval. Configure the interval in Sections → [Your Slider] → Timing. The sweet spot is usually 5-8 seconds — long enough to read the review, short enough to keep the section dynamic. Enable "Pause on hover" so visitors who are actively reading are not interrupted. You can also disable auto-advance entirely and rely on manual navigation (arrows or swipe). For above-the-fold placements, auto-advance is recommended because it demonstrates that the section is interactive. The genetic algorithm will test different timing intervals and determine whether auto-advance helps or hurts RPV for your specific audience.

Because sliders show one review at a time, content selection is critical. Every review gets the spotlight, so low-quality or unhelpful reviews have an outsized negative impact. Configure your slider to: show only 4-5 star reviews, require a minimum text length (at least 50 characters), prioritize verified purchases, and boost reviews with photos. You can also manually curate slider content by featuring specific reviews in Reviews → All Reviews. Featured reviews appear first in any slider section. For homepage sliders, consider featuring reviews that mention your brand positively or highlight key product benefits — these act as testimonials and reinforce your value proposition.

On mobile, sliders need to adapt. Review text should not require excessive scrolling within the slider frame — configure a shorter text truncation for mobile (2-3 lines versus 4-5 on desktop). Swipe gestures should be enabled and the swipe area should be generous. Navigation arrows should be smaller or replaced with dots on mobile to conserve space. The slider height may need to adjust based on content length — Eevy AI handles this automatically by measuring the tallest review and setting a consistent height. Test your slider on a real phone after configuration to ensure the reading experience is comfortable.
