Setting Up Story Bubbles

This guide walks through setting up story bubbles, configuring their appearance, selecting content, and understanding how the genetic algorithm optimizes their placement and display for your store.

Creating a Story Bubbles Section

Go to Sections → Add Section and select "Story Bubbles" from the section type list. Story bubbles work best on product pages and your homepage — they are less effective on collection pages where space is limited. Select your target page type and give the section a name. Eevy AI will automatically populate the bubbles with your highest-rated reviews that include photos or videos. If you do not have enough visual reviews yet, the bubbles will show text reviews with a branded background until you collect more media content.

Configuring Bubble Appearance

Story bubbles offer several visual configurations. Bubble size controls the diameter of the circular thumbnails — larger bubbles are more eye-catching but take up more horizontal space. Ring color sets the gradient ring around unviewed bubbles, similar to Instagram's orange-pink gradient. You can match this to your brand colors or keep the default. Label display toggles customer names or product names below each bubble. Max bubbles controls how many appear in the row before a horizontal scroll activates. On mobile, 4-5 bubbles typically fit the viewport width. The genetic algorithm will test these configurations, so set your brand preferences and let it optimize from there.

Story Content and Ordering

Each story bubble opens into a full-screen card showing the review text, star rating, customer name, and the associated photo or video. Multiple reviews for the same product appear as swipeable cards within a single story. You can control content ordering: by recency, by rating, or by engagement (most-viewed first). For product pages, the default behavior pulls reviews for that specific product. For your homepage, you can curate which products or reviews appear as story bubbles by featuring them in Reviews → Media. Featured reviews always take priority in story bubble selection.

Story Bubbles on Mobile

Story bubbles were designed with mobile in mind. The swipeable full-screen story experience is native to how mobile users consume content. On mobile devices, the bubbles automatically adjust to a smaller size that fits the viewport, and the story viewer uses full-screen mode with touch gestures for swiping between cards. Make sure your review photos are high quality at mobile resolution — blurry or low-resolution images hurt the experience. Test the story bubble experience on your own phone after setup to verify the flow feels natural. Mobile visitors typically engage with story bubbles at 2-3x the rate of desktop visitors.

Measuring Story Bubble Impact

In your Eevy AI dashboard, story bubble metrics include: bubble impressions, story open rate (how many visitors tap a bubble), story completion rate (how many swipe through all cards), and RPV impact. Story bubbles typically show high open rates because the format is familiar and inviting. The genetic algorithm uses these engagement signals alongside RPV data to optimize bubble placement, sizing, and content ordering. If your story open rate is above 10% but RPV impact is low, the algorithm may experiment with showing different review content or adjusting the position on the page.
