How to Enable Eevy Data Tracking

4 min read

Eevy Events is a lightweight app embed that runs silently on your Shopify storefront, collecting the visitor behavior data that powers your Eevy dashboard. It tracks page views, product views, add-to-carts, checkout starts, scroll depth, and page exits — giving you a complete picture of how customers interact with your store.

Without Eevy Events enabled, Eevy can still serve optimized review sections, but you won't have visibility into the metrics that matter: conversion rates, engagement patterns, and the data the genetic algorithm uses to optimize your layouts. Enabling it takes less than a minute.

What the Tracker Measures

Once enabled, Eevy Events automatically captures six key events across your storefront: Page Viewed — Every page load on your store, giving you total traffic volume and browsing patterns. Product Viewed — When a visitor lands on a product page, so you can see which products get the most attention. Product Added to Cart — Tracks add-to-cart actions, the critical step between browsing and buying. Checkout Started — When a visitor enters the checkout flow, helping you measure purchase intent. Scroll Depth — How far visitors scroll on each page, showing whether your content and sections are positioned where people actually look. Page Exit — When and where visitors leave, so you can identify drop-off points. Together, these events form the foundation for your dashboard KPIs: conversion rate, bounce rate, engagement depth, and revenue attribution. They also feed the genetic algorithm — the more behavioral data Eevy has, the smarter it gets at finding layouts that convert.

Why You Need It Enabled

Without Eevy Events, Eevy operates in the dark. It can still serve your review sections and run A/B tests, but it has no way to measure what's actually happening on your store. That means: No visitor behavior data — You won't see page views, product views, or browsing patterns in your dashboard. No conversion attribution — Eevy can't connect add-to-carts and checkouts back to specific layouts or experiments. No engagement insights — Scroll depth and exit data won't be collected, so you can't tell if visitors are even seeing your review sections. Eevy Events is what turns Eevy from a static review widget into an intelligent optimization engine. It's the difference between guessing which layouts work and knowing — backed by real data from your actual visitors.

Step 1: Open the Theme Editor

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes. Find your current live theme and click Customize. This opens the Shopify theme editor where you can manage app embeds and theme sections.

Step 2: Find Eevy Events in App Embeds

In the theme editor, click App embeds in the left sidebar (the icon looks like a puzzle piece). You'll see a list of all installed app embeds. Find Eevy Events in the list.

Step 3: Toggle On and Save

Click the toggle next to Eevy Events to enable it, then click Save in the top right corner. That's it — Eevy Events is now live on your storefront. It runs silently in the background with zero impact on your store's performance or loading speed.

Verifying It's Working

After enabling Eevy Events, open your store in a new browser tab and browse a few pages — visit your homepage, a collection page, and a couple of product pages. Then head back to your Eevy dashboard. Within a few minutes, you should start seeing events appearing. If you see page views and product views coming in, Eevy Events is working correctly. If events aren't appearing after 5-10 minutes, double-check that the Eevy Events toggle is on and that you clicked Save. If you use multiple themes (for example, a staging theme), make sure Eevy Events is enabled on your live theme specifically.

Wrapping Up

Eevy Events is now live and collecting data. From here, every visitor interaction feeds into your dashboard metrics and the genetic algorithm's optimization engine. The more traffic your store gets, the faster Eevy learns which layouts convert best.
