Configuring AI Review Summaries

AI review summaries distill dozens or hundreds of reviews into a concise, scannable overview that helps customers make faster purchase decisions. Instead of reading 50 reviews, a customer can read a 3-sentence summary that captures the key themes: what people love, common use cases, and any frequently mentioned concerns.

Eevy AI generates summaries automatically from your review data. This guide covers enabling summaries, choosing the right format, and placing them for maximum impact.

Enabling the AI Summaries Addon

Navigate to Settings > Addons > AI Review Summaries and click "Enable." Eevy AI will begin generating summaries for all products that have 5+ reviews. Summary generation takes a few minutes per product. You can track progress in the addon dashboard. Summaries are regenerated automatically when new reviews are added, so they always reflect your latest review data.

Choosing a Summary Format

Eevy AI offers two summary formats: Bullet points — 3-5 concise bullet points highlighting key themes from reviews. Best for: scannable product pages, mobile shoppers, products with diverse review topics. Paragraph — a 2-3 sentence natural language summary. Best for: premium products, stores with a storytelling brand voice, products where context matters. You can set different formats for different collections, or let the genetic algorithm test both formats to see which converts better for your audience.

Placement Options

Where you place the summary matters as much as the format. Common placements: Above the review section — gives customers a quick overview before they scroll through individual reviews; Near the add-to-cart button — places social proof at the point of decision; In a dedicated section — a standalone block that can be tested independently by the genetic algorithm. Customizing Summary Appearance

Customize the summary section under Sections > Summary > Customize. Available options: heading text (default: "What customers say"), summary text color and size, background color, border style, icon style for bullet points, and maximum summary length. The summary section inherits your theme's typography by default, ensuring it looks native to your store.

Summary Quality and Edge Cases

AI summaries work best with 10+ reviews that contain descriptive text. Products with only star ratings (no text) will not generate summaries. Products with fewer than 5 reviews will show a placeholder or be hidden (configurable). If a product has mixed reviews (3-star average), the summary will reflect both positive and negative themes honestly — this actually increases trust and conversion compared to a purely positive summary.
